Toothless Saddle - Let's Go, Bud!

About a month ago, Build-a-Bear released a Toothless plush. Naturally, being the How to Train your Dragon fan that I am, I snatched one up. When he arrived, I was so excited. This is the best looking, most well made, retail available plush Toothless yet. The only way you can get better, is to make one yourself, or buy a custom made. But even so, he was missing something crucial. His saddle. I wanted to remedy this in time to take him with me to the movie, so I drew up some patterns, and came up with this.

I modeled the saddle off the original one from the movie, because the new one is a lot more complex in design, and requires the dorsal spines to be present (the saddle splits down the middle to border the dorsal spines on either side). It just, wouldn't have looked right. I had to play around with rigging up snaps to allow it to be taken off and put on without too much hassle, but still look uniform with all the rivet-work. So, the front chest piece took three separate attempts to get something I was happy with appearance wise, and that functioned the way I wanted it to. The whole system has four snaps; one each around the end and base of the tail, and two hidden under the chest piece. Next, I plan on making replacement wings for him.
